After much discussion and reflection and with a heavy heart we have decided that we will not proceed with a carol service like previous years. Given the transmission rate of the Covid Delta variant and the upward trajectory of the infection rate these last few weeks we are loathe to ask people to come and practice every week with all the attendant risks for both them and their families.
Choral Singing has an elevated risk and incidence of transmission; additionally, the chapel on the carols evening tends to be full to capacity. On balance we feel it is best to tread a more prudent path this year and have just a little ‘carols sing-along’ after mass on the Third Sunday of Advent, Sunday December 12th , with everyone masked and well wrapped so that we can sip some mulled wine ‘en plein air’ and sing our favourite Christmas melodies. As this gathering will be held in the open air all are welcome to join us.This of course will not be the typical ‘polished performance’ of previous years. Rather it is simply intended to be a fun, community and family-friendly event to give us all some festive cheer.
