Each year there is a walking pilgrimage of up to 12,000 pilgrims from 30 countries between the cathedrals of Notre Dame de Paris and Notre Dame de Chartres.
The pilgrimage to Chartres, originated in the 12th century, was revived in 1983. Pilgrims are organized into groups of between 20 to 60 people who will walk through the streets of Paris, the countryside, and then arrive in Chartres.
Since 1998 there has been a group of Irish pilgrims from Ireland and France who will walk the 113 kilometres (70 miles) distance on the weekend of Saturday May 18 to Monday May 20, 2013.
You are welcome to join the St Patrick’s Chapter for the full pilgrimage or join at the start in Paris on Friday May 17, during it or at the end in Chartres on May 20.
Please note that the special feature of spirituality and prayer life of this pilgrimage is the Extra-Ordinary form of the Mass (Latin Mass) with other special features including three days of hiking and singing including the rosary in French and Latin.
