During the weekend of July 12 – 13, 2014 the Lassus Scholars, a choir of the Dublin Choral Foundation directed by Dr. Ite O’Donovan, will be singing concerts of sacred music at Eglise de la Madeleine, Eglise Saint-Eugène Sainte-Cécile and our own Chapelle Saint-Patrick. Admission to the concerts are free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Named after the great Renaissance composer Orlande de Lassus, the Lassus Scholars was founded by renowned Irish choral director Dr. Ite O’Donovan in a bid to achieve the richness of the cathedral choral tradition in a changing, secular society. Since its establishment in 1996, the choir has sought to achieve excellence in expression and interpretation in all musical styles from the 16th century to the present day.
The choir performs regularly in high-profile venues both in Ireland and abroad, including Dublin’s National Concert Hall, National Gallery, City Hall, National Museum, St Patrick’s and Christ Church cathedrals, St. Kevin’s Church, Rome’s most prestigious churches including the Basilica of San Clemente, Santa Maria in Trastevere, Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini, the Papal Basilica of St John Lateran and St Peter’s Basilica, and Westminster Cathedral in London. This will be first visit of the Lassus Scholars to Paris.
